Overview

Artificial intelligence is reshaping geopolitical competition, regulatory debates, and the information environment. Today’s leaders need clear, timely analysis of these shifts and the ability to brief decisionmakers with accuracy and confidence.

This workshop equips professionals with the tools to communicate fast-moving developments to their organization’s leadership and stakeholders. Participants will first examine the strategic implications of AI before putting those insights to work in a focused oral briefing practicum that mirrors the demands of real-world decisionmaking. Our expert coach will provide personalized feedback on how to translate complex trends into clear, actionable messages.

The Briefing for Impact Series

This half-day program marks the launch of CSIS Executive Education’s Briefing for Impact series. The goal of each session is to offer an interactive, seminar-style briefing on an emerging global issue led by industry experts followed by a hands-on communications workshop.

Designed with the changing demands of industry leaders and practitioners in mind, this program equips participants with the necessary frameworks to understand rapidly evolving global trends and to communicate these insights clearly and effectively.

Each iteration introduces a new global issue that sets the stage for the communications workshop. A new cohort joins every session, adding perspectives that deepen the dialogue and build a lasting, cross-sector network.

Agenda

This half-day program will comprise two sessions: a geopolitics seminar and an oral briefing skills workshop.

Geopolitics Session: AI in Context

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping strategic competition. From defense to private industry, the rise of AI brings complex opportunities and challenges for the global community. This seminar will examine the shifting landscape of AI ethics and governance, as well as the forces driving artificial intelligence adoption, amid countries’ efforts to keep pace with these rapid technological advances.

Communications Session: Oral Briefing Skills

The program culminates in an oral briefing practicum, where participants will receive live coaching on how to effectively communicate the impacts of AI on their own industry. Led by Scott Morgan, CSIS Executive Education senior mentor and communications coach, this highly interactive session will deliver hands-on experiential learning, providing participants with the individualized feedback necessary to improve their strategic communication skills.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze evolving global trends to examine how AI adoption is reshaping strategic competition and economic growth.
  • Apply communication skills in practice with expert feedback to deliver clear, concise, and influential oral briefings.
